I spent ages choosing a tent and settled on this one because of the flexibility of the sleeping. The basic tent is a tunnel into which you add two inner pieces. The larger section adds two adjacent rooms and the smaller another one room. With both these inserted there is still a pretty big living space inside the tent. (three adults and 8 kids were very comfy during out rain lashed holiday!) If you only put in the two room section you would have a very large living area indeed. The tent is a six man but you could easily sleep two or three additional people in the living area. The two adjacent rooms fit double airbeds very nicely and the single room is more suited to a single bed but a double could still fit in although the side of the tent would be pretty close to the outer person’s face. We are a family of 5 and it is perfect for us. There are lots of hanging pockets for storage too and both sides of the tent have doorways plus, when the single room is not in place, the whole end opens up to form a large canopy porch. A DVD is supplied to show you how to erect it and this is invaluable. It is very very simple to put up and I (mother of three) managed to do it alone with my 10yr old son. Okay, it was a sweat and he wasn’t strong enough to help with most of it but we managed!) Two adults and it would be a doddle.
We have just returned from three nights of the foulest weather (severe weather warning over where we were) imaginable in Wales. From the moment the tent was put up the rain lashed sideways and the tent was under constant sideways pressure from the high winds. It was AMAZING!! We were as snug as bugs – nine of us spent the whole of one day in the tent (the weather was THAT bad) and not a drop came in and it stood up to the forecast force 8 winds). We hadn’t managed to pitch it that well either, as it was raining when we put it up, so I was doubly impressed with it. Some of the other campers’ tent pole snapped during the last night because of their ‘crossed’ pole structure. Because this tent has no crossing poles the tent is able to ‘fold in on itself’ thus relieving the pressure. the built-in ground sheet kept out all drafts and we were wonderfully warm and cosy inspite of the howling winds.
I cannot recommend this tent enough – the weather was beyond atrocious but the tent enabled us to still have a fun time with the children. Buy this tent – seriously, buy THIS tent!
